Teaching Piano in Groups ReviewI read this book for my Group Piano Pedagogy class last year and it really is a wonderful resource guide to teaching group piano. Not only is it helpful for group piano teaching, but for all types of musical settings. This book offers the tools necessary for group piano instruction for both music and non-music major students. In addition, everything in this book can be applicable to private teaching. I really found the chapter dedicated to instructional strategies to be very helpful for me when I was a GA teaching both music and non-music majors. This chapter incorporates an array of fun games to play and provides innovative approaches to teaching a concept or skill. I also think the chapter on learning theory is extremely important for all teachers to read and to better understand the different types of learning styles. This plays a vital role in organizing lesson plans and curriculum. This book is a tremendous asset to the field of music education providing an all-inclusive list of resources for teachers. This book is a must-have resource guide that should be a part of every piano teachers' library. I am recommending this book to every music teacher!Teaching Piano in Groups OverviewTeaching Piano in Groups provides a one-stop compendium of information related to all aspects of group piano teaching. Motivated by an ever-growing interest in this instructional method and its widespread mandatory inclusion in piano pedagogy curricula, Christopher Fisher highlights the proven viability and success of group piano teaching, and arms front-line group piano instructors with the necessary tools for practical implementation of a system of instruction in their own teaching. Contained within are: a comprehensive history of group piano teaching; accessible overviews of the most important theories and philosophies of group psychology and instruction; suggested group piano curricular competencies; practical implementation strategies; and thorough recommendations for curricular materials, instructional technologies, and equipment. Teaching Piano in Groups also addresses specific considerations for pre-college teaching scenarios, the public school group piano classroom, and college-level group piano programs for both music major and non-music majors.Teaching Piano in Groups is accompanied by an extensive companion website, featuring a multi-format listing of resources as well as interviews with several group piano pedagogues.Want to learn more information about Teaching Piano in Groups?
