Read and Understand Poetry, Grades 5-6+ ReviewAs a home educator, I searched for something to teach poetry as a form of literature, not for the purpose of creative writing. I also hoped to find a way to make it more interesting for my son than it had been for me at his age. I found it in this book. It contains a good variety of styles - classical and modern poems; serious and silly. The book is simple enough to not frighten those new to reading poetry. However, it is still "meaty" in important concepts. I especially like that the book gives background information on each of the poems to help the student understand the poem's meaning.
